Abstract

Various symptoms due to a variety of causes can be shown in women with voiding-difficulties. Radical hysterectomy, a treatment for cervical cancer, is one of the major leading causes of voiding-difficulties. Two factors leading to voiding-difficulties are following; urinary nerve damage and anatomical modification due to extensive resection of uterus along with surrounding tissues. Therefore, postoperative voiding-difficulties are expected to show various symptoms for a long time. These symptoms are thought to have negative effects on quality of life in subjects. In this regard, this study reviewed the causes and symptoms of voiding- difficulties after radical hysterectomy and identified the effects on patients¡¯ lives. This study also suggested that multidisciplinary efforts to overcome voiding-difficulties after cervical cancer surgery must be done continuously.
